Bonshaw Weir - 8k North Bonshaw, N.S.W.

On The Dumaresq River, approx 8k north of Bonshaw and 21k South East of Texas is the Bonshaw Weir and camping area. This relatively small area is suitable for about 10 caravans / motorhomes and has good shade trees, shelter sheds long drop toilets (TOILETS HAVE NOW BEEN REMOVED) (20th October 2010) and fire places. Nearby, a low level bridge crosses the river and the deep hole under the bridge may produce a couple of good fish. On the opposite side of the river are a couple of camping sites that are level and closer to the weir. These are accessed by crossing over the bridge and turning right about 100m and following the well defined tracks which are suitable for all rigs. Well off the main road, this quiet spot is recommended for a couple of nights stay. Texas has excellent hot showers in the main shopping centre (free) and a couple of good camping areas close to the town if you prefer the big city life.

17th August 2008 - Gwyder River Camp, Bingara, NSW

Situated just 8k East of Bingara via Keera Road, this camping site provides various sites along the riverbank. Although there are no facilities, this is a very popular camping spot close to the very camper friendly town of Bingara. Camping is possible right on the edge of the Gwyder River where there are good level sites with well shading trees. Although popular in summer, we were lucky enough to find a spot next to the river during our stay in winter. A great spot to spend time and do a bit of fishing.

5th August 2008 - Little Styx River Campground New England - NSW

Located 37k East Of Wollomombi and reached by turning off the Waterfall Way 11k South West Of Ebor onto Point Lookout Road and driving along about 9k of good dirt road to the entrance to New England National Park. Situated beside the river, is this well shaded, grassed level camping area where logs of wood are supplied. Not far past the camp area is the entrance to the New England National Park where Thungarri Camping Area is situated. A further drive through the park will take you to Long Point Lookout. Further campgrounds are accessed by following the road to Armidale or Kempsey along Forest Way.

7th August 2007 - Uralla Fossicking Area, Uralla, NSW

Waking this morning to a temperature of minus 7º, this beautiful camping area left us with no option but to recommend a stay during winter to test out your heating system. Located 6k West Of Uralla - Via Kingston & Devoncourt Roads, and reached by turning West off the New England Highway 800m South of Tourist Information Centre. Cold but a beautiful setting amongst gum trees beside the creek there are a couple of reasonably level sites. Long drop toilets and fire places are provided for those willing to take a swim in the river or try some rock hunting.

4th August 2007 – Native Dog Creek Camp - Cathedral Rock National Park, NSW

Located 12k North West of Ebor, via Ebor / Guyra Road Native Dog Creek Camping Area is 200m west of the Highway. A well treed camping area with large sites suitable is suitable for larger Motorhomes. A short walk from the camping area brings you to Native Dog Creek which is flowing with crystal clear water and is less than 2 to 3 minutes walk from the campground. For a peaceful stay with good facilities, this site is recommended to those who spend the day at Ebor Falls Picnic Area.

1st August 2007 – Ebor Falls Day Area, Waterfall Way, NSW

This day area is a must when travelling along the Waterfall Way. Located at Ebor, the viewing platform at the top of the falls gives good photo opportunities of the falls and cascades. There is a walk along the escarpment for about 800m to the lower falls. Unless there has been a lot of rain, these falls are hard to see. The picnic area is tops and well worth staying for lunch. Overnight camping is available opposite the entrance to the falls but is a bit rough. We recommend the 12k trio to Native Dog Camping Area which is on the Ebor / Guyra Road.
