1 August 2006 – Yarrangobilly Village Camping Area – Snowy Mountains – Mt. Kosciuszko National Park

1 August 2006 – Yarrangobilly Village Camping Area – Snowy Mountains – Mt. Kosciuszko National Park – 64k South Of Tumut, NSW. This large camping & picnic area beside the Yarrongobilly River, is a great place to stay. Just below the snow line, temperatures at night are about zero and top about 5 during the day. A short drive (14k) up the hill will take you to Yarrongobilly Caves where a thermal pool awaits the adventurous. By this time you should be above the snow line and be able to see the vast open plains near the mountains. (Mt. Selwyn ski fields are only 37k from the camping area and plenty of parking is available. See Mt Selwyn photos for further details.) Tables & toilets are provided and it is recommended to bring your own wood as most of the local wood is very wet. Yarrongobilly village consists of one house with a shed (unoccupied) and is home for many of the rabbits that inhabit the area. If you can manage it, we recommend this place either in summer or winter for a base.

4th August 2006 – Mt. Selwyn Snowfields – Snowy Mountains

4th August 2006 – Mt. Selwyn Snowfields – Snowy Mountains – Kosciuszko National Park – Approximately 42k North Adaminaby, 49k South Talbingo, N.S.W. (Refer Yarrangobilly Village Camping Area for overnight camping, 37k to Mt. Selwyn). The drive off the Snowy Mountains Highway to Mt. Selwyn is along a sealed road and on arrival, ample free parking is provided. If you are in this area, a trip to this location is a must for either sightseeing or skiing (Plenty of equipment is available for hire on the mountain). Snacks and meals are available and a dining room is provided for those who wish to take their own picnic lunch in the cafeteria complex. Pensioners are admitted free to Mt. Selwyn snowfields. We highly recommend a trip to this area if you are in the locality.

6th August 2006 - Log Bridge Camp Area, N.S.W.

6th August 2006 - Log Bridge Camp Area, On Lake Blowering, Mt. Kosciuszko National Park, 18k South Tumut, N.S.W. This camping site has fireplaces, tables, a toilet and garbage bins. The camping site is fenced off but suitable parking is available adjacent to the picnic area. Approximately 300 meters further along the road towards the boat ramp is another area with an uninterrupted view over the lake. Fishing in the lake is good but be sure you have a current license or exemption card. Fisheries patrol the lake on a daily basis and issue fines for any breach of regulations. Access is by sealed road about 500m off the Snowy Mountains Highway.

7th August 2006 – Jugiong Picnic & Camping Area, N.S.W.

7th August 2006 – Jugiong Picnic & Camping Area, N.S.W. – Visitors are welcome at this well looked after rest stop off the highway. The hotel opposite the park is open from 4pm to 10pm daily for meals and next door is a café that is open from 10am to 4pm. A track goes behind the picnic area towards the tennis courts and behind the clubhouse is an area suitable for camping beside the Murrumbidgee River. A good spot to stop if in the area.
