This camping area located south of Port Macquarie and East of Kew is accessible along a dirt road from the town of Laurieton, NSW. The camping area is large enough to accommodate about 50 campers and has cold showers – free BBQ’s, level sites and costs $5.00 per person per night. For those unfortunate not holding a National Parks Pass, an additional $7.00 per day is also payable. The beach is accessed by a short track where good swimming is available. The beach is about 7k’s long and provides plenty of beach fishing. A track from the camping area leads to "Fisherman’s Rock". It took us about 45 minutes of hard walking along a poorly marked track before finding the rock. Access to the rock is suitable for either mountain goats or alpine climbers. Anyone contemplating fishing at this spot is well advised to have a look first. All fishing gear should be folded and rods placed in rod covers prior to attempting this trip. The showers are cold with spring loaded taps. We recommend that you use the outside showers that are near the track leading to the beach. There is also a track leading to the beach for 4WD enthusiasts. All in all, we recommend this camping area and suggest those that contemplate using this area, take provisions for at least a week……Good spot.
