On the North Coast of NSW is the beautiful town of Ballina at the mouth of the Richmond River. On the north side of the river is The Kerry Saxby pathway that takes you out to the mount of the river. This pathway starts from the information centre in town and the full return walk takes about 1½ hours. There are plenty of swimming and fishing places with a protected Shaws Bay suitable for safe swimming. Caravan parks abound and plenty of “No Camping” signs are sited almost everywhere. Have a good look at all the parks before picking a site to stay a few days
