24th April 2006 – Goobang National Park – New South Wales – By travelling North from Parkes through Peak Hill and Tomingley along the Newell Highway, Goobang National park is accessible by turning right along Goobang Road until the end of the tar. A further 1k on the dirt brings you to the entrance of Wanda Wandong, a delightful camping area. A bird lover’s paradise, one can only be impressed by the constant songs of the many various breeds of birds in this park. The camping area is large with an open area for those with big rigs and solar panels and a well-shaded area for smaller self contained campers. There are two "Windy" Long Drop toilets but no water. Wood is plentiful and BBQ sites are available near well-shaded tables.
Camping is free and when we were here we only had one other camper for company. Bring plenty of water and food for a stay in a place well away from it all.
