Cold in winter but an ideal location to cool off in summer, Cockburn River Campsite is located North of Tamworth, approximately11k East of Kootingal and 2k West of Limbri Via Kootingal/Limbri Road, beside Cockburn River. The area is well treed and has several ideal camping areas that will provide welcome shade during hot weather. Unfortunately, the shelter shed has been vandalised and the roofing material has been removed. The water tank adjacent to the shed has no water due to the roof vandalism. A long drop toilet is reasonable and fireplaces are provided. Visitors are advised to take a look at the huge spider-web on the nearby hills. The nearest shopping is at Kootingal so take provisions if intending to stay for an extended period.
